Five stars is really not enough for this jewel of a book. I so uh'll d . Like to have it required reading for Christmas every year. It teaches great lessons of real life. People need these lessons. I highly recommend this book to everyone.
As with all collections, some entries are better than others, but overall this has some of the best old fashioned Christmas Spirit stories I've had the pleasure to read. Several have been added to my Christmas tradition. Highly recommend.
I love Christmas books - I love reading them from Thanksgiving through the New Year. This one was AWESOME. Filled with sweet poetry, beautiful short stories, and heartwarming tales that all make your heart warm. I am so glad I read this. If you love the holiday season, pick this one up. If you're not feeling festive enough, give this a try. It'll bring those fun Christmas feelings into your heart. Enjoy!
Perfect reading for Christmastime. Lovely stories of a generation past but compelling none the less as stories of hearts needing warmth.
Olde-style stories, of remarkable beauty & sentiment. Author was writing around late 1800s, death in 1920s. Books of this era show skill & vocabulary not oft present in more modern works. For enjoyment of truly old fashioned Christmas tales, please do yourself and the young ones in your life the favour of sharing these stories in front of a warm & roaring fire... (but have the dictionary handy; a few words are now uncommonly used or forgotten).
I would highly recommend this book. The stories are original and full of “goodwill towards men”. Perfectly fitting for the season.
This is a wonderful collection of Christmas stories from a bygone era it will make you thankful for what you have and make you want to give to those who do not . If you want to grasp a little of the real meaning of Christmas this is a good collection of stories. But if you don't like stories that'll bring a tear to your eye and a lump to your throat, don't get this book.
